Votes are the loudest input into what gets built next, and they are not the only one. A request also has to be safe to build, possible to roll back, and worth the maintenance it will cost forever.

A request with three votes can ship before one with forty, if the three are the same problem seen from three angles and the forty are a feature that would need arbitrary code execution to implement.

Nothing here is a commitment or a date. When something is accepted it moves to Planned, and when it ships the request names the release it shipped in.

Why the board asks for a GitHub account

An anonymous board is a spam board, and an anonymous vote count means nothing. A GitHub account is the lightest thing that makes one vote mean one person.

• We read your public profile and nothing else. No email scope, no repository scope, no write access to anything you own.
• What is stored: your GitHub id, username, avatar URL, and the date your account was created. Not your email, not your name, not your repositories.
• A vote is private. The count is public; who cast it is not, and the board has no way to show it.
• A request is public and carries your username, because a roadmap the community can see needs to be attributable. If you would rather not be named, open an issue on GitHub instead and say so — we will file it.
• Sign out and the session cookie is destroyed. Ask us to delete your account and everything above goes with it; your requests stay, with the author removed.
